A life update

So sorry for the lack of posts over the past 6 months. Life has been pretty hectic with my final year of uni. I’m pleased to say though,I’m officially done. Three years of uni is officially over! It feels so weird to think where that time has gone. I now have to go out and become a proper adult. Scary stuff.

In officially six weeks I graduate and go out into the real world. Not sure how to feel about that. In the mean time I’ll give you a little update on what’s been happening in the life of Emily.

Going back to April(I know,I know, that was two months ago) but I got to go and see some great theatre and see some of my favourite people on stage. Mainly James Norton and Sheridan Smith which I got to write about as part of my final university project due to creating a theatre magazine. Hope to share it with you over the next few weeks. I get my grades back(!) for everything next week so can hopefully share what I’ve been up to.

Fast forward to the last few weeks of May: I got to go and see Emily Bowker(who was a massive help in my fmp thanks Emily) and Alastair Whately in Invincible. For those who have read my blog for quite some time will know that this time last year I had a bit of a love for a play called Birdsong which these amazing actors starred in. It was lovely to see them again. I also visited Winchester Cathedral and found Jane Austen’s grave stone.

The end of May was spent with my lovely friend Sarah in her hometown of Exeter for the lead up of Radio 1s Big Weekend last weekend. Can someone take me back please?!
It was lovely to get away and spend some time with her on her farm, exploring the great outdoors with minimum Internet and phone signal. I was a total tourist as it was a place I hadn’t visited before and took loads of photos. I went to the zoo and saw an elephant being fed. A baby giraffe and some week old meerkats. I went on a lovely walk with Sarahs dogs and danced and sang the day away at Big Weekend. Generally living! It was the happiest I had felt in a long time. One of the best weekends ever!

When I came home on the Monday I went and saw a preview screening of Me Before You and cried my eyes out in the best possible way. My favourite film of the year so far.

My mum came to visit on Tuesday and we ended up having a very cultured few days visiting places we hadnt before. We went to Bath and learnt more about Jane Austen. We ventured to Oxford and had the best time looking at all the architecture and beautiful buildings wishing why I wasn’t clever enough to go to the university there. I bought an Oxford university hoodie because why not. I’d wanted one for years.

Then we came back to Southampton and met Giovanna Fletcher. She seemed impressed when I told her I wrote my own stuff and told me to keep going when I said I’d written 10,000 words of a story. I cried. It was one of the best experiences to be told by someone you look up to to keep writing.

In terms of this 10,000 words of Turn of the Clock,Amie bought me a pocket watch! I actually own a pocket watch like the one in the story. I got very excited when it was given to me as a belated birthday present. I’ve since carried on the PowerPoint I originally started, adding more photos of the characters, and generally getting to know them a bit better. I’m hoping to get back to it and spent the last few weeks in my flat writing before I move out at the end of the month.

I’m home for a few days until Wednesday to recharge my batteries before beginning my job search. I’ve also recently joined TheatreBloggers so expect more theatre reviews on this blog over the coming months.
For now I’m off to do some baking and watch Death Comes to Pemberly for inspiration for my story. James Norton in period costume. Yum!
I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to.
Lots of love
