Hope to get back into my writing so plan on writing things based off of prompts. The first one was based off of a photograph.
It was his grandparents 50th wedding anniversary party. The first and a rare occasion that they had to really dress up. A chance to have a selection of nice pictures she could put in an album, because that was what she did. She spent ages looking for the perfect dress. She knew she wanted to go pink though. Pink so she could, in some sense match his sparkly blue waistcoat. She felt like a princess that night, and he told her she looked beautiful as she always did.
On arrival at the hall where the party was held they were told that every couple had to play dress up and take a silly photo. This was there’s. Although rather than a silly one, it turned out to be a nice one. Which after the amount of photos that were taken of them having this one taken, this proved the only one where they were both looking at the same camera. It made her smile.
They both look so relaxed and happy, as though they have no worries in the world. She saw him dance for the first time that night, despite admitting he couldn’t. His dancing mixed with the brightness of his eyes and the wideness of his smile that night made her happy. She couldn’t keep the smile from spreading across her face.
It was as though no one else existed but them, despite being surround by at least a hundred people. Although, by the amount of cameras that flashed and the amount of group photos they were both in that night, it felt like their wedding. That was the first night it was mentioned. It made her happy to know that he saw her in his future.
He told her he loved her in French that night. J’taime. They ate, danced and were merry. Well he was. But she didn’t mind. It was nice to see him fully let go and enjoy himself. He asked if he could take off his bowtie, and she immediately put it on and asked if he would get in a photo. Another to add to the album.
They played party games, including the likes of dressing the men up in women’s clothes, and a version of musical chairs, which involved dancing with a chair and then sitting on your partners lap. They were one of the first out, but they didn’t care. It was a lot of fun.
He sang in French and she got a recording on her phone. They jumped about to the Black Eyed Peas ‘I Got A Feeling’, jived to ‘Rock Around the Clock’, and slow danced to Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and Righteous Brothers ‘Unchained Melody’. It was in those moments that no one else existed. Accept for the comments from other people on the dance floor about how cute a couple they were, how good they were at dancing, why she had taken her shoes off, and to save the kissing until later. She was truly happy in that moment. And was definitely one of the best and top nights of her life. And will always remain so.
