Work Experience:TV Choice

To celebrate getting my first three bylines in TV Choice magazine, I thought I would do a blogpost about the time I spent there doing work experience a few weeks ago now. (I planned on getting this post up earlier but deadlines got in the way).

Jacket: Forever 21

I got on the train from my nans Ono central London feeling nervous yet excited. Having done work experience at the main Bauer office before, I was excited to see its other office.  I arrived at 9.45 and was greeted in reception by the lovely features editor,Elaine who gave me my own pass to get in. I got a bit excited because it said freelancer.

On arrival into the office I met the rest of the features team before sitting in one some meetings. After that I was put straight to work, finding news stories suitable for the magazine, researching information for a set visit and watching TV programmes before writing about them. It was a great first day and I knew instantly that I was going to enjoy the rest of the week.

Skirt: New Look

Entering the office on Tuesday I got straight to work finding more news stories and writing features. One of the perks of the job was getting to watch TV before it aired. I sat and watched new sitcom Brotherhood which I enjoyed. I later found out I was getting the opportunity to tag along to a table interview with the cast on Thursday. Exciting stuff.

Jeans: Topshop

T shirt: River Island

Jacket: H&M

By Wednesday I was getting used to the routine of commuting into London every morning. Although tiring I felt like I was part of the group of people on the morning train. Good for people watching.

I had a news meeting that morning where I sat down with Elaine and some of the team and discussed the news stories I’d picked and which would be suitable for the magazine. I then wrote up the news section which got included in both additions of the magazines. My first bylines! So exciting. I also wrote up the main piece that was put in this weeks.

Jumper: New Look

Skirt: Primark(bargain price of £1)

Having gotten used to going to Camden every morning it was odd taking a different route to Tottenham Court Road for the table interview. Exciting though and worth it to experience my first interview situation. Although I had prepared questions I was a little afraid to ask them so left it up to the professionals.

After the interview I got back to the office and wrote about another TV show before going for coffee with Elaine where we got to have a chat about how I was finding the experice etc. I told her I was enjoying it a lot and asked if I could go back. Luckily she said yes and I’m returning for another week in January which I’m excited about.

We then walked to the station where we said our goodbyes. Elaine wasn’t going to be there on Friday due to being on set but we did we would keep in contact.

T Shirt: River Island

My final day at the office. I had so much fun that I didn’t want to leave. Before I did though I transcribed the interview from the previous day,and wrote another piece. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Tv Choice/Total TV guide. The staff are lovely and I feel I learnt alot during my time there. I can’t wait to go back in January.

That way it saves time, and I dont end up copyrighting myself from another site. From the first review I wrote, to the most recent. This post will be edited with every post I write. Hope you enjoy.*

The Secret Life of Students & Writing competitions

I’m not sure about my fellow uni friends but I’ve been glued to my tv screen everything Thursday evening at 10pm for the past month to watch the next episode of The Secret Life of Students,a documentary on Channel 4 which followed 12 students at the university or Leicester as they got to grips with uni life. Sounds normal, right? The thing that made it more intriguing however was the fact that those 12 uni students let the cameras have access to their phones and every text, phonecall, tweet,Facebook update and google search they sent whilst there.

In this day and age teenagers are considerable incapable of leaving their phone alone for a second. Everywhere you go you see teenagers on their phones, texting or tweeting or currently on Facebook. I can’t shame them, because I do it too. We’re now in a world where we’re ruled by the internet but is that a good thing?

I won’t go into a debate about this subject, maybe another time. Instead I’ll concentrate on the documentary. It was interesting to see how relatable it actually was and how the things you thought happened to you, could happen to other people too.

News and rumours travelling like wild fire within a flat all because we have phones. The latest who kissed who or the videos of the night before. All so relatable and a typical uni experience. If I wasn’t at university I don’t think I would have related to it as much as I did.

Needless to say it made me miss uni and I can’t wait to go back after summer and start my second year.

Speaking of uni. I got my results back a few weeks ago and I passed my first year which I’m really please about.

The last week has been spent writing pieces for competitions I plan on entering over the next week. I’ve just found more to get cracking with so I best get writing.

I’d love to hear what you lovely lot have been up to.

You can catch The Secret Life of Students on 4OD now.

Lots of love

E ❤️

So as promised below are the links for my reviews of Begin Again starring Keira Knightley,Mark Ruffalo and James Corden and Restless starring Hayley Atwell and Michelle Dockery.

I’ve also just gotten back from seeing the new Transformers film, which although not usually my type of film I have to say was rather good.

Sorry it’s so short, will update more at the end of the week.

Hope you’re all well

E ❤️
